The comarca of El Maresme sits on the Catalan coast running North East from Barcelona between Montgat and the river Tordera. It runs as a narrow stretch between the coast and the spine of hills known as “la cordillera Litoral”, and hosts a series of towns all along including the capital Mataró.
The coast itself is generally sandy, interspersed with marina’s and fishing ports. A popular destination for summer time on the beach and year round coastal walks.
